Super Bowl Party
I know it’s been several weeks since the Giants defeated the Patriots, but I’m just now evaluating the success of my first ever hosting of a Super Bowl party. Now, some of you may think that there’s not much to hosting a Super Bowl party: just throw out some food, beer, turn the volume up and that’s it. Not so, my friend! If you’re going to spend an entire day in front of the television you need to spice things up a bit.
First, I mixed things up by purchasing Giants and Patriots beer bottle koozies in advance. I knew who each person was rooting for, so I handed them a cold beer in the appropriate koozie as they entered my home. Next, I created ‘Super Bowl Bingo’ for people to participate in. Each square had a reference to the game, commentary, commercials, or half-time shows. I also had a whiteboard where people placed friendly one dollar bets before the game on various outcomes. All-in-all, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, which makes me eager to start planning next year’s extravaganza.
Gator Country
Heat plus humidity plus lots of UV rays equals one unhappy me. Still, I’ll be trekking down to Florida Gator country to visit my best friend. She’s playing for the softball team and I want to go show my support.
To combat the sun’s rays, I’ll be sporting some Gator USA-licensed NCAA sunglasses. The trendy sunglasses will be accompanied by a hat, water bottle, and lots of sunscreen. I’ll be in town for about a week and catch two or three games. Knowing my hatred of hot weather, my friend has said she’s extra motivated to win to make my trip all the more worthwhile.
